What VA home care can include

Through VA Community Care, eligible veterans may be approved for help at home with daily activities like bathing, dressing, meals, light housekeeping and errands. The services and hours are set by the VA.

How to ask the VA for home care

  1. Talk with your VA primary care team or VA social worker. In Las Vegas, that is usually through the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System.
  2. Ask about homemaker and home health aide services, and whether you qualify.
  3. If approved, the VA sends a referral to a community care provider. Tell your care team you would like Trusted Friend, and call us so we can confirm we can accept your referral.

VA Community Care referrals in our area are handled through TriWest Healthcare Alliance, which manages the VA’s community care network. Once we receive an approved referral, we schedule care and handle the paperwork with them.

Please note: The VA decides eligibility, authorization and approved services. Trusted Friend cannot guarantee coverage.
